National Trust: Canon Ashby + Leicestershire

First thing this morning I went to get my blood taken. A couple will be ready by the end of the week One won’t be ready until next week. Then in 2 weeks, I have an ultrasound.

Once those were done, Dave and I got packed for our overnight stay in Leicestershire. Tomorrow is Daves’ birthday. As his present, I’ve bought him a tank experience. I’ve kept it as a surprise. I believe he doesn’t know.

As the hotel check-in wasn’t until after 3pm, we decided to make a day of it. We travelled to Cannon Ashby, a National Trust property there. It was a good trip out.

We got there just before lunch. Walked around the gardens, I got my souvenir postcard from the shop and then we took a guided tour of the house. I’ve been going to these properties for many years but today was the first time I’d been on a tour.

I found it very interesting. I learnt more from it than just walking through the place at the extra rooms after the tour. I think I’d go on them again. No extra cost either.

Once we’d finished at Canon Ashby, we travelled to Market Houghton, Leicestershire. The hotel wasn’t anything fancy. It had a bed, bathroom and other luxuries a person may want.

After checking in and found somewhere to park. Unfortunately, I didn’t check to see if it had its own parking. But we found somewhere that cost us £2 until 8:30 am the next day.  We had a walk around the town, did some of the Millenium Walk and the Riverside Walk. We refreshed ourselves in our room before going out for dinner.

We choose to eat at Pizza Express as we could use the O2 Priority codes to get our mains for £5 each. Even with the rest we spend a bit but saved £13 if we paid for all our main price.

The whole day has been lovely. We’ve unwinded, taken in knowledge and done the daily movement of walking. It’s been a good 3 days in a row we’ve gone over 10,000 steps. My body does feel like I should do more and different types of daily movements. But I’m glad for good shoes.
